He’s on TV with commercials and NBA broadcasts, he’s been a movie star and a club DJ and DJ Diesel… Now the big man is back on TV with a new kids show – Shaq’s Garage!
The new animated series will be all about the secret adventures of Shaq’s collection of animated cars and trucks. Each one has a unique skill or talent, like music and singing, or their mastery of Shaq Fu, or even being able to speak the ultra-secret language of Shaqanese. You need a Shaqtionary for that, of course!
The new project is a partnership of O’Neal and ABG Entertainment, a division of Authentic Brands Group.
Shaq is pretty excited about his new show. “We plan to showcase the most amazing, tricked out assortment of vehicles that can only be found in my garage. They will all have larger than life personalities, larger than life missions and of course, larger than life sound systems… This will be a kid’s show which will highlight inclusivity for all.”
The lead “character” vehicle in Shaq’s Garage is named Big Diesel (what else?) and will be voiced by O’Neal. With the new TV production partnership, O’Neal will become an investor in Genius Brands. The company is a global brand management company that creates and licenses multimedia entertainment content for kids.
If all goes as planned, Shaq’s Garage is set to debut in early 2022 on the new free digital Kartoon Channel! “Whether in Sheijing on a secret mission or visiting an ancient shrine in the lost city of Shaqmandu, each story will be as special as the vehicles and Shaquille himself,” an official synopsis reads. Genius Brands CEO Andy Heyward said the storylines and vehicle designs are inspired by Toy Story, Tony Stark and 007.
Movie and TV historians will know that O’Neal has had a few on-screen appearances since his retirement from the NBA. He voiced an animated version of himself in the 2014 film The Lego Movie.
