Just in case you were cursing your bad luck last time, your opportunity has returned: Shaq’s huge (dare we say, Shaq-sized?) mansion in the Orlando suburbs is back on the market. Now’s your chance to scoop it up!
Of course Shaq started his NBA career with the Orlando Magic, drafted number one overall out of LSU back in 1992. After time in an Orlando uniform, he moved on to those legendary years with the Los Angeles Lakers, then to Miami and several other teams. All along, the big house has been in the big man’s portfolio, and now it’s back on the market again.
Shaq has called the mansion – complete with 12 bedrooms and 31,000 square feet of living space – his primary residence for all these years. Now of course, he spends most of his time in the Atlanta area, due to his work on the TNT Network and the super-popular “Inside the NBA” program, where he’s a regular.
The home is in the super-luxury Isleworth Golf and Country Club near Orlando, where it has water views both front and back. There’s – of course! – a 6,000 square foot indoor basketball court, 17 car garage and lots more… all surrounded by a 10-foot tall privacy wall.
Shaq bought the land for this house in 1993 for $4 million and proceeded to build a custom dream home on the lot. Here at the ShaqFu Radio blog HQ, our favorite part of the house is the backyard pool. It’s a huge affair with a deep end deep enough for a navy submarine.

The home has been on and off the real estate market for years. O’Neal first put this house on the market in May 2018 for $28 million. In January 2019, he lowered the price to $22 million. In September he lowered the price to $19.5 million. Now he’s lowered it once again, to $16.5 million after doing some updates inside the home and finding a new real estate agent to represent the property.
It was only a few months ago that we thought the house was finally going to be sold. In January, it was announced that there was a buyer for the mansion, but it seems that contract fell through and now the house is back on the market again.
Interestingly, the new real estate agent has decided to downplay the fact that the home belonged to an NBA legend (what, the indoor basketball court doesn’t scream that loud enough?). In prepping the home for returning to the market, some big changes were made, both inside and out. The entire 31,000 square foot interior was re-staged, the pool area and outside kitchen were staged, and the driveway and house were power washed to make everything clean and shiny.
