Here at the ShaqFu Radio blog, we recently reported on the big man buying a nice new home in Carrollton, Texas, a ‘burb of the Big D (that’s Dallas, for those not familiar). Now it seems O’Neal is exploring the area. There have been numerous Shaq-sightings over the past few days.
We’ve already reported the story (click here to check out previous post) on how O’Neal met a family in need of some new laundry hardware at a local Best Buy story. He ended up buying the family a washing machine, and a brand-new 75-inch TV as well!
There was also a video of him buying some food for a homeless woman on the street, and giving her a little cash, too. As O’Neal has said many times, he just likes to make people happy.
Back in late May Shaq wrapped up the purchase of a new home in Carrollton. The Dallas Morning News reported the 5,200 square-foot home sold for about one point two million dollars. Earlier this year, we reported that Shaq had finally sold his mega-mansion in the Orlando area, after having it on the market for an extended time.
In Texas, local real estate agent Zac Gideo posted a selfie with the big man. He says Shaq was interested in the area because he wants to be nearby to oversee the expansion of his very own Big Chicken restaurant chain, which is adding more locations in the Dallas area.
Then just a few days after that, the Instagram account Hot Free Style posted a video of the Hall of Famer handing a meal and cash to a woman. “Could you use some money, too,” O’Neal asked the lady before handing her some cash.
More sightings: Carrollton Police department posted a selfie one of its officers took with O’Neal. The post on Twitter pleaded for another selfie opportunity since a glare partially covers the officer’s face. Arlington Police responded on its official account that it was “just impressed that he was able to fit all 7’1’’ of Shaq in the photo.”
That’s not all! Most recently, Shaq was spotted visiting with kids at a basketball camp (of course! ) at Tidwell Middle School in Roanoke, Texas. There’s pics of that online, too.
Obviously, Shaq makes a splash and gets noticed wherever he goes and however he shows up. As the old cliche says, “Things are always bigger in Texas.” (That’s an old cliche, right?) Seems O’Neal is living up to it, cliche or not. Always spreading happiness, for sure. Keep up the great work, big man!
