He’s done it again! Our man Shaq absolutely made a family overjoyed this week, when he stepped up to help with a couple of major purchases.
Not only is O’Neal a big man live and in-person, he’s also huge when it comes to helping out people he sees in everyday life…folks who may need a little help with finances, vehicles, meals, etc.
This latest story of O’Neal’s generosity happened earlier this week, when he struck up a conversation with a family in Home Depot, of all places. In a viral video posted Wednesday, Shaq befriended a family in Home Depot. After chatting for a bit and playing with the kids, he ended up purchasing them a washer and dryer. Sweet!
Check out the pics and Twitter videos. Shaq spots a pair of ladies walking the aisles and chats them up, asking “What are y’all buying?” When one of them tells him about their need for a new washer and dryer, O’Neal nonchalantly says “I’m gonna pay for it.” Happiness ensues…and the two women are seen embracing the NBA superstar, taking photographs, and repeating “bless you” to the big man.
So like you, we were wondering just what Shaq was doing in Home Depot, anyway. Sure, he does some shopping on his own. We’ve seen that in other stories and viral videos.
Turns out this time, O’Neal was in Home Depot specifically to film a a new music video for his new song, “I know I got it.” Of course that’ll be dropping soon under his music name, DJ Diesel. The track also features artist Nitti.
In the video, Shaq wears an orange Home Depot apron and walks around the store, rapping out lyrics like “Should write a book ’bout every step on my way up the ladder,” while standing on a ladder in the home improvement store. Of course!

Seems the family that Shaq bought the appliances for might also turn up in the video. We’ll have to see when the final cut comes out. Shaq has a Home Depot “thing” going on lately. He’s been swapping likes and messages with Instagram viral video content creator Ariana Josephine, who also goes by the handle “Home Depot Girl.”
As we said, this is certainly not the first time Shaq has bought stuff for shoppers he’s talked with in stores and malls around the country. Here on the ShaqFu Radio blog, we’ve covered stories of the big man buying computers for students at Best Buy, helping a young man pay for an engagement ring at a jewelry store, and more.
In an interview with People Magazine last August, O’Neal talked about how giving back to his fans is one of the most rewarding things he does. In People, Shaq said, “My favorite thing to do is when I’m in Best Buy, Walmart, if I see a kid, get them something that I see he’s looking at.”
Of course it’s gonna be a major-league thrill for any fan to meet an NBA champion, but sometimes – with Shaq – it’s even bigger than a simple meeting and selfie session. Hats off to the big man for his huge, generous heart.
