Years ago, back in playing days, Shaq used to go by the nickname of “Superman.” These days, it seems the big man is – as they say – getting the band back together. Have you seen the latest pics? Wow…
Maybe O’Neal is just thinking ahead to a new career in bodybuilding. We’ve already seen him take to the ring in a couple of high-profile, professional wrestling events. With his latest social posts, Shaq is showing off a body totally in keeping with a world-class athlete.
Always looking to make a big (BIG!) impression, O’Neal recently posted a new video to his Instagram account. Wearing a gray tank top and blue shorts, O’Neal is seen slowly entering a workout area amid ominous music. We would have liked the Darth Vader theme from Star Wars, but what he used was equally good…
In a very movie-like dramatic flex, Shaq rips off the tank top and shows off his latest gains. And yikes! What gains! There’s plenty of flexing of arms and pecs, just like any pro bodybuilder at a competition.
In the caption, Shaq gives several shout-outs to bodybuilders and to fitness coach Roc Shabazz, who’s been known to work with all kinds of former professional athletes including Shaq, Ray Lewis, Shannon Sharpe, and Ray Rice.
He also tags a company called Novex Biotech, which specializes in men’s performance formula supplements. O’Neal has been a brand ambassador for the company since 2021. We’re guessing Novex Biotech is about to enjoy a strong surge in sales!
Here on the ShaqFu Radio blog, we’ve covered many stories of how the now 51 year-old O’Neal has been working hard to make fitness a priority in his life. Back in March, he made an IG video post showing how he was using a weight machine at a gym just a little more than a week after he’d had hip surgery.
At the time, the big man put out the warning, saying he was “bout to get my game back.. all you old dudes that hoop in @24hrfitness @lafitness @lifetimefitness i’m coming for yall.” Obviously the former Lakers superstar and NBA Hall of Famer wasn’t kidding!
In a springtime interview with PEOPLE Magazine, O’Neal said that he had already lost over 40 lbs. and was aiming to shed 20 more lbs. as part of his “ultimate” goal weight of about 350. In addition to doing cardio and weight training, he has also embraced a healthier diet.
Like a lot of us, Shaq talked about having to make positive modifications in his diet and eating plans to complete the weight-loss journey. “I eat about four or five times a day, but four of those meals used to be junk meals. So the more and quicker you can discipline yourself, the better and quicker you’ll see the results.”
Well, the big man is obviously seeing results! How about you? Does Shaq’s hard work inspire you to take better care of yourself? It sure does for us!
