So… when you’ve got homes in different locations around the country – let’s say Atlanta and Las Vegas – and you’ve got a car you really, really enjoy, but the car is at one house and you’re at the other… Well, what’s a former NBA legend and business mogul going to do? Well, if you’re our man Shaq, the answer really isn’t all that hard.
We all know Shaq loves his rides. He’s got quite the collection of two, three and four-wheeled toys and luxury rides. You can check out previous posts here on the ShaqFu Radio blog for more on the different toys he’s bought and drives over the years.
O’Neal’s latest edition to his car collection is the absolutely stunning Tesla Cybertruck. If you’ve seen one in real life or even just online, you’ll definitely never forget it. It’s a stainless-steel wedge of a vehicle. Kind of a pickup truck, yes. But more of a luxury SUV that looks like it could be tooling around on Mars just as easily as on the Strip in Vegas.
Hmmm… Now that we think about it, maybe that’s what Tesla CEO Elon Musk had in mind when he started making electric cars and trucks. After all, a regular, gas-powered vehicle needs air to burn the gas in the cylinders. An electrically powered vehicle doesn’t need air to run. Wow..we’re thinking we’ve just stumbled onto something important. But we digress…
When the Cybertruck first came out, Shaq was one of the first to pull out his checkbook and order one for himself. That truck is parked at Shaq’s digs in Las Vegas, where he spends a lot of time. (After all, his Shaquille O’Neal Foundation is based there, and puts on the annual “Event” to raise money for kids and community projects around the country.)
Trouble is, Shaq also spends a lot of time in Atlanta. That’s where the studios of TNT sports are located… the home of the wildly popular “Inside the NBA” program. The new NBA season tips off mid-October, so we know O’Neal will be in Atlanta for that.
So here’s the problem: Shaq’s new favorite ride, the Cybertruck, is parked at home in Vegas. He’s in ATL. What’s wrong with that picture? Now, even the staff here at ShaqFu Radio had an answer for that problem: Hire one a car-transport trucking company to ship the Cybertruck across the country…easy! (We’re in Florida, so we see transport trucks shipping in the cars owned by winter visitors all the time.)
So is that what Shaq did? Nope! Rather than ship the Tesla from Vegas to Atlanta, O’Neal simple ordered himself a second Cybertruck! On his socials, the big guy wrote: “I’m missing my Cybertruck, but I don’t want to ship it from Vegas to Atlanta, so imma just go ahead and buy another one.” Nice!
Plenty of social media influencers in the automotive space – along with a short batch of A-List celeb have their very own Cybertrucks. Along with Shaq, celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga, and Pharrell Williams have also been spotted driving the electric pickup truck. Taking note of the big names driving his big electric truck, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said simply, “Well, they clearly have great taste!”
Along with the Cybertruck, Shaq has quite the collection of wheeled vehicles. We kinda like the customized all-black (and Shaq-upsized) Rolls-Royce Phantom. But the three-wheeler is cool, too! So heads up, Atlanta. That shiny silver Cybertruck rolling up next to you just might be Shaq!
