As this post is being written, we’re pretty excited to know the new season of the NBA starts at the end of the month. Can’t wait! Of course our man Shaq doesn’t really have an “off season” … he’s always busy with something. If you’re in the San Francisco area of Cali, you’ve got a chance to see the big man next weekend.
O’Neal – known in the music biz as his alter-ego DJ Diesel – will be on stage as part of the Breakaway Music Festival, coming to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Grove Street, right in the heart of downtown San Francisco.
Back in August, DJ Diesel appeared at a similar festival, called Outside Lands, held not far away in Golden Gate Park. For that show, DJ Diesel was a few minutes late getting to the stage. At the time, he said he was chillin’ with friends Steph Curry and Draymond Green — no worries!
This time around, the Warriors have a preseason game against O’Neal’s former team, the Lakers, down in Los Angeles on the very same night of the Breakaway show. We’re guessing the big man is right on time for this show!
DJ Diesel slid into this particular lineup at the last minute. DJ Snake, the French producer and DJ most famous for his 2013 dance anthem with Lil Jon “Turn Down for What,” was scheduled to headline but had to cancel “due to unforeseen circumstances,” according to a post on X / Twitter from festival organizers.
Shaq’s team was contacted just ten days before the show dates, and fortunately, he was able to fit the show into his normally super-busy schedule. Along with DJ Diesel on opening night, fans will also dance to the music of French DJ Madeon.
If you’re in the area, or will be traveling around the San Francisco area, tickets are already on sale. Single day passes start at $99. This is the final-of-the-summer of the Breakaway music festivals. Shows have also been held in Boston, Kansas City, and Columbus, Ohio, to name just a few. You can still get tickets online at https://www.breakawayfestival.com/bay-area
One more big music festival for the big man this summer…than it’s off to suit-and-tie land for the start of the NBA season.
