Shaq Sells Dallas Home – Fast

August 21, 2024

If you were in the market for a mid-sized mansion in Texas, owned by a former NBA superstar… well, sorry to have to tell you, but you missed your opportunity to buy the very nice crib formerly owned by one Shaquille O’Neal.

The real estate market around the country is pretty crazy these days. Economic conditions aren’t all that great, and buyers and sellers of homes just about everywhere are watching local market conditions like a weatherman watches the skies. Things are always changing…and fast.

Still, for Shaq, the sale of his house in Carrollton, a suburb on the northwest side of Dallas, went quickly. Was it because of a bit of Shaq-magic? Maybe. The home sold after just one month on the market. Some high-end real estate sits on the market for three times that. Here at the offices of the ShaqFu Radio blog, we’ve even seen that in high end neighborhoods in Florida. According to records from industry source Realtor.com, O’neal bought the 5,200-square-foot home in Carrollton back in 2022. The asking price for the house had been $1.7 million, and the final price Shaq paid was not made public… but it’s assumed to be a lot less. Maybe in the range of one and a quarter million dollars. A bargain? Maybe.

The home includes five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, two half bathrooms, a deluxe office with built-in shelving, a fireplace and a tiered ceiling. The kitchen, breakfast and living space had an “open concept with soaring ceilings, a fireplace, and a wall of windows that gives you a scenic view of the pool and palm trees,” according to the for-sale listing. The kitchen also offered high-end appliances, including a 6-burner Wolf gas range, granite countertops and a large island. Sounds pretty nice!

Keep in mind, Shaq isn’t leaving Texas. While this one home in Carrollton is selling, he already owns another home farther upstate, in Rockwall County. Local media reports say the second home was purchased by the same trust that bought the O’Neal’s home in Carrollton.

That north Texas home is bigger, at about 4,670-square-feet. What we like is that it includes a nice-sized pool with a 500 square-foot pool house and casita. Great for those lazy weekend afternoon pool parties! In fact, our man Shaq has already been spotted in that area. Local residents saw him in Rockwall County shopping at Walmart on July 2, according to a post on the X / Twitter platform.

Shaq has plenty of history in Texas. He spent part of his childhood in San Antonio, playing basketball at Cole High School. He led the Cole Cougars to a 36-0 record and won the 1989 state title. Incidentally, it was the school’s first team state championship. O’Neal played for six teams throughout his 19-year NBA career. Needless to say, he enjoyed a pretty good hoops career after high school, as well!

In addition to the home in Texas, Shaq also has homes in the Atlanta, Georgia area. That makes it easy for him to have a place to rest his weary head during NBA season, as he’s on TNT and Inside the NBA every game night…which is a lot.

Shaq also has a home in the Las Vegas area. Vegas is another place where he does a lot of business. His Shaquille O’Neal Foundation has it’s annual huge “Event” there to raise money for programs benefiting kids and local communities.
