Seems like the (almost) nightly broadcast of TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” there’s another laugh-out-loud moment or two. Between our man Shaq, Sir Charles, Kenny the Jet and self-described “traffic cop” Ernie Johnson, there’s always something to comment on and chuckle about.
This week was no exception, except the laughs had nothing to do with the games being played that night. If you missed it, you missed out on seeing Shaq in some big, crazy wig. Why? Well, that’s where all the laughs came from. Read on…
So it played out like this: the camera comes on with the regular I.T.N. foursome at the desk, only O’Neal is obviously sporting a LOT of extra hair. It was impossible to miss. And of course that led to immediate questions from the rest of the crew. Host Ernie Johnson set O’Neal up perfectly, saying, “I know there’s got to be a story behind this.”
O’Neal played it coy for a bit, and even offered up some really weird story about being outside his home in the Atlanta area, and being “attacked” by a big bird. No, not the big yellow one from Sesame Street, but a “hawk,” in Shaq’s words.
Not surprisingly, that story didn’t go very far or last too long. In the end, Shaq admitted that he’d just not seen a low-hanging Exit sign, and scraped the top of his head.
There were some big bandages under the wig to prove the story. Ernie commented that he didn’t know they made bandages that big. The injury wasn’t too serious. O’Neal said the scrape did not require stitches.
